Who We've helped

Over the past three years, I have raised $1,300 USD (9,022 Yuan) which is enough for six scholarships of $150 USD (1000 Yuan). The scholarships are need-based, and chosen by a committee that includes the Vice President of the school, the financial aid director, as well as the counselors of each class.

I have also been able to deliver a vocational high school scholarship to a student that I had visited for the past three summers. Her name is Du JinJin.

The remaining 2022 yuan that was not given this summer will be used for scholarships in the winter.

Thank you so much for your generosity.

Zhang Yuzhe

My name is Zhang Yuzhe. Male, I am fifteen years old. I live in ____ village in Henan, China. Currently, I am a student at ___ High School. There are a total of four people in my family. My father is over 60 years old and has poor health. His back is disabled and struggles to walk. He works hard in the fields but can barely support the living costs for the family and schooling for me and my sister. My mother is in her 40s but both her legs are crippled and she can no longer walk or do any physical labor. My sister is currently in middle school and she is still young, so all of our income comes from my father alone. We live in poverty and do not have any other sources of income. Our family usually gets along, but sometimes we will get in arguments. Every year we receive welfare from the state.

Jiao Jianan

Jiao Jianan, female, I am 16 years old and live in ___ village in Henan China. I am a student in Class 6 of tenth grade. I was born in a common family in a village. Currently, our family lives under the poverty line. Every year we need to receive financial aid offered by the government to pay for my schooling. When I was 5 years old, my mom and dad divorces due to personality conflict and many fights. My custody went to my dad. The year after, when I was in first grade, my dad needed to go out to make money in the city, so I had to live with my grandma. I learned how to ride the bike, under the help of my aunt-in-law,  so I could go to school everyday by myself. When I would get home from school, my grandma would cook dinner using a charcoal fire. My grandma would find small and easy jobs to make money to buy our groceries. My father would come home twice a year to help in the fields and leave some money with my grandma. When I was in 8th grade, my dad suddenly fell ill while working in the fields. He went to the hospital and was diagnosed with late stage leukemia. Ever since, my dad was hospitalized for treatment. When I was in 9th grade, my dad passed away. Because all of our resources went towards my dad’s treatment, my aunt had to train herself to take care of newborns in order to make some money as a maid. She divorced several years ago and has worked out of town jobs since then. My grandma is now 79 years old, yet she is still looking for light jobs to make money. She regularly picks up scraps of paper on the streets to sell and make money. Still, the money my grandma makes is far from sufficient to support my study, so I have also used my aunt’s support to be able to continue school. The above is my situation. It would make me delighted to receive your help.

He Yitong

My name He Yitong and I am an upcoming senior at ____ High School. Our family lives in ____ village in Henan, China. Our family consists of my father, my mother, my older sister, and me. My mother lost both of her eyes in a car accident and her body is held together by metal rods. The rods remain in her body because we do not have the money to pay for the removal procedures. From that point on, all family income relies on my father. He works as a construction worker and also raises pigs in the daytime. He regularly has sleepless nights due to pigs deaths, rain, and crop failures. In recent years, my family has stopped raising pigs due to certain reasons. My

father’s fellow construction workers all moved to the city, and he cannot continue doing construction by himself. Our income is rapidly shrinking. My older sister is currently in college and has been taking loans for her tuition. These loans have been stacking up. My father has to take care of my mother and cannot take any other jobs, so we cannot afford to help pay for any of the debt. I am going into 12th grade and will soon also need to pay some tuition and lodging fees. I will need even more resources than before, and my family condition will continue to decline. My parents are almost 60 and their bodies will probably hit a barrier.

Xie Jialin

My father died in a car accident eight years ago and my mother works in the city all year. I live with my eight-year old brother and my elderly grandparents. We live under poverty. Both my brother and I are in school and the tuition as well as living expenses are a great burden to my family. My grandparents are getting old and sick and they need to take medicine regularly. The costs for their medicine is also a large expense. Our situation is deteriorating daily.

Liu Ziqi

My name is Liu Ziqi, female. I am a student in Class 7, Grade  11 of _____ High School. My family lives in ____ village in Henan, China. We have lived in poverty since I was a child. My father died from lung cancer when I was a young child. My mother remarried. My older sister and I now live with my grandparents from my mother’s side. My grandparents are already in their 70s. My grandpa has a cerebral stroke and coronary artery disease. He has to be hospitalized several times a year. My grandma’s legs and feet are disabled and both of her legs have Bone Hyperplasia. My sister’s college tuition and fees, my high school living expenses, along with our overall living expenses are like mountains piled onto my grandparents’ shoulders. Our family has 0.8 acres (5 mu) of land. The money made from our crops is our family’s only stable income. But it is not nearly enough to cover these huge costs. I hope that loving people from around the world can help my family get through these difficult times. I’ve passed the 9 grades of free education in China and the next three years of my education will have to come from my own pockets. This tuition is not something that our family can afford. I hope some generous people can help support me in finishing high school. Thank You

Yang Xiaofang

My name is Yang Xiaofang. I am a 12th grader in high school. My family is from ___ village in Henan, China. Our family has four members including a brother who is currently in first grade. Due to my father having serious disease and losing ability to work, there is nobody to financially provide for the family, and so my family falls under the poverty line. When my dad was in his 20s, he suffered a hemorrhagic stroke. Later, due to serious lack of protein, he developed Cirrhosis of the liver. Due to deteriorating functions of his liver and bladder, he became diabetic. For these reasons, my dad always seems weak and lethargic. My mom was poorly educated, so she can only work in my village and earn a few dollars a day, hardly covering our living costs. Moreover, my brother and I are both in school and in need of tuition and living expenses. We are really struggling and depend on the basic welfare given to those in poverty. But, this is not nearly enough.
